Since 2011, Fred Brand has served as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Thomas Edison State University where he is responsible for the planning, proposal submission implementation, and stewardship of the University's corporate, foundation, state, and federal grant award programs.
In nearly four decades of professional experience in the fields of higher education, senior services, Alzheimer/dementia care, and developmental disabilities, he and his colleagues have developed and helped sustain numerous innovative and best-practice programs through the more than $25,000,000 he has raised through corporate, foundation, state, and federal grants. His volunteer efforts reflect the same passion and commitment he has displayed throughout his career, having shared his time and talents with Special Olympics and numerous camps and community recreation programs for people with developmental and physical disabilities. Fred was also the recipient of the 1999 New Jersey Activity Professionals Association's Madison E. Weidner Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding and dedicated service to the therapeutic recreation profession.
Fred received his Bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross with a major in Sociology and his Master's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from New York University. Living in rural Independence Township, NJ, he is most proud of and thankful for the accomplishments and love of his wife, a second grade public school teacher, and their two adult sons who have also embarked on professional careers in service to others.
