The seminar includes the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care seminar curriculum, instructor manual, student notebook, Intimacy video, and accompanying workbook.
The dementia curriculum includes an overview of dementia, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, communication, feelings, depression, repetitive behaviors, paranoia, hallucinations, wandering, hoarding, aggressive behaviors, catastrophic reactions, intimacy, sexuality, personal care, bathing, dressing, toileting, nutrition, pain, activities, environment, staff and family support, diversity, cultural competence, spiritual care, end of life issues.
Upon completion of the class, the professional is awarded certification as a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) and a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP).
Who should attend: In-service Directors, Corporate Trainers, Consultants, Dementia Unit Managers, and/or Supervisors who provide direct supervision of a dementia unit.
7 CEUS for activity professionals, administrators, and nurses in most states.
Participant Qualifications: Must have a college degree (or RN/LPN), at least 3 years of experience presenting in-services, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with the geriatric population.
